Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Harmony Outreach Cambodia welcomes our new English teacher, Tola Sang. Tola replaces Lyda Mao who was recently married and moved from Phnom Penh.
Tola comes to us from Battambong province where his family farms and raises cattle. Although not starting school until age 10, Tola excelled in his studies from the beginning. After high school he was offered a two-year scholarship by Asia Human Resource Development Institute in Phnom Penh in 2012. At this Christian school’s 4-day Youth Camp, Tola gave his heart to the Lord. The first Bible verse he memorized was John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
After getting his Associate Degree from Asia HRDI in 2014, Tola continued his education at Western University in Phnom Penh, majoring in English. In June of 2016, he received his bachelor degree.
Tola says, “Since I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, my life has changed a lot and my relationship with family is getting closer. I am praying that one day my whole family will accept Him as their Lord as well. I thank God for opportunities to share the Gospel with them and believe they will open their hearts to Him one day.”
As part of Lighthouse Christian Center in Phnom Penh, Tola helps in the ministries of Service Leader, Cell Group Care and Youth Alive Committee, and he has been involved in children’s ministry at an outlying village.
Excited to be a part of Harmony’s Learn2Work Center, Tola appreciates the opportunity to use his English skills to teach students and to be instrumental in introducing them to Jesus.
