September marks the annual Vietnamese children’s festival. For most it’s a time to celebrate the life of children and to give them a fun time. But for Christians in the underground church it provides a marvelous chance to celebrate children for the purpose of sharing the Gospel and impacting their young lives for Christ.

That is particularly the case for Pastor Hoang in the Mekong River Delta area. He and his staff celebrated the children and shared the gospel (similar to a VBS in the US), but he did it at the residence of a former, big-time communist leader. “Strange setting,” one might say. Well, actually, in the grand scheme of the Lord’s work it’s actually pretty understandable. The Holy One had been working on the heart of the former Communist leader, who is now an elderly man, and his family.

By the end of the celebration the children, the former Communist official and his family crossed over from death to life to become new creatures. Praise God for His works are mighty and wondrous!
